A wall separates us, a great History unites us like sister borders. - Binational Community Murals

Vianney Rodríguez Ramírez is a visual artist from Naco, Sonora, whose work bridges art and history to strengthen cultural ties across the U.S.-Mexico border. For her Naco Heritage Alliance Fellowship project, she proposes a dynamic series of bi-national community art workshops and public murals that highlight the shared heritage of both Naco, Sonora and Camp Naco, Arizona. Through participatory painting activities, collaborative mural creation, and historical exhibitions, her project will center the narratives of the Buffalo Soldiers and the Sieges of Naco. Rodríguez Ramírez envisions these murals as permanent, accessible works of public art that honor the region’s complex history while fostering a sense of identity and cultural pride. The initiative will culminate in community exhibitions and ceremonies on both sides of the border, inviting diverse audiences to engage with history through artistic expression.
