Cesilia C. Garcia
Program Coordinator
Cesilia is a third-generation Bisbee local. She is passionate about history, education, politics, as well as having a deep connection with Mexico and Bisbee. Her inspirations come from both her grandparents. Her grandfather was born to Mexican immigrants in Bisbee in 1943, grew up during Bisbee's peak in mining production, was a part of the National Guard, and a miner in the Freeport-McMoRan lavender pit mine.
Her grandmother, an immigrant from Mexico, became a citizen in the 1970s and had to navigate the changes of the border between Mexico and the United States. Cesilia sees her grandparents as representation of the Bisbee area and what life on the border is like as it pertains to the past, present and future.
She graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors in Political Science and History, as well as graduating with a Masters in Teaching and Learning.
